Marco Pogo is a doctor, author, brewer, performer, comedian, politician, and punk musician. His résumé is longer than most political careers — just with a much better soundtrack. As the frontman of the band ”Turbobier“, he has secured a firm place in the Austrian and German music scenes. He has been awarded the Amadeus Austrian Music Award, Austria’s most prestigious music prize, three times. The trophies are now put to practical use at home — as drinking cups.
In 2015, Marco Pogo founded the ”Bierpartei“, initially intended as a satirical project. However, it quickly gained unexpected political traction. In the 2022 Austrian presidential election, he received an impressive 8.3 percent of the vote, proving that humor and conviction are not mutually exclusive.
Sold-out tours and performances at home and abroad — from Simmering to Wacken and as far as Japan — speak for themselves. On the cabaret stage, Marco Pogo is sharp, relentlessly honest, and guided by an instinctive sense for the comedy of everyday life. He draws from a life as multifaceted as it is unique: musician, brewer, medical doctor, politician, author, and, of course, comedian. According to the latest research, there is likely only one such résumé in the world.
His debut book “Gschichtn”, released in the midst of the pandemic, quickly achieved cult status. It was only natural that this led to his first stage program, “Gschichtldrucker”, which he continues to tour to this day. With an impressive 132 performances, Marco Pogo has appeared on many of Austria’s most renowned stages, including Stadtsaal Vienna, Globe Vienna, Orpheum Graz, and Posthof Linz.
